A message from the band…

Hey Folks,

As a result of the Melbourne lockdown, we were unable to proceed with our planned shows at the Forum on Friday 12th February. We have rescheduled for 7 May, and we look forward to coming and playing in one of our favourite venues then. Refunds available via point of purchase or hang onto your ticket to go to the new shows in May.  Shout out to all the venues, crews, musicians and managers doing it tough at the moment.

In celebration of their new single Port Rd feat. Queen P, Holy Holy will hit the road for a tour of the East Coast, including Forum Melbourne on Friday 7 May.

The urgent and ambitious new single Port Rd showcases the latest progression in their shapeshifting sound as they maintain an unshakable sense of what has come to define them. Port Rd, inspired by a quote from author Arundhati Roy, focuses on the terrifying-yet-exciting nature of change and what awaits on the other side.

The track features a collaboration with emerging Melbourne rapper, Queen P, whose fresh presence on the record complements Tim Carroll’s rich vocals. “I love the energy she brings,” he says. “I love collaboration. There’s something really nice about a song having multiple characters - in every way; in the texture of the voice, in the personality and in the story. We feel privileged that she’s up for that.”

Their first new music since their ARIA & J Award nominated album My Own Pool of Light (2019), Oscar Dawson and Tim Carroll created Port Rd completely remotely from each other. The duo found the limitations of the pandemic also held opportunities for experimentation and exploration, testing the limits of what the band can do and be. This also involved inviting fans to submit their vocals via social media to form the choir that drives much of the emotional punch of the song.

“Our collaboration is an exciting place. We constantly push each other forward. It’s a good back-and-forth to have with someone; we don’t hold each other back", explains Dawson.

HOLY HOLY has used 2020 to create music that continues to push and satiate themselves as musicians and fans of the craft. “With all things musical, our approach has always been very much led by how the music makes us feel. That’s our compass,” adds Carroll. “As long as the music feels good to us and we enjoy it, then we’re on the right path. We both have a pretty strong sense of that and that’s guided us from the beginning.”
