One of Melbourne's favourite theatres.

Built in 1928, the Comedy Theatre is a blend of European flavours. The exterior is a replica of a Florentine palace and the interior shows a strong Spanish influence. The venue still maintains a lot of its original characteristics including balcony seating, a generous foyer and an elegant staircase.

Getting Here

Train

Parliament Train station is approximately 260m from the Comedy Theatre. This is a City Loop station. There is an accessible entrance and exit located on Spring Street. Please visit the Transport Victoria website for more information and timetables.

The closest tram stop is Russell St Stop 7 – it is accessed by the 86 & 96 trams and is a level access stop.

The nearest taxi rank is outside the Melbourne Marriott Hotel, corner Exhibition and Lonsdale Streets.

Drop Off / Pick Up

The best spot for drop off and pick up is on Exhibition Street, outside the Woolworths next to the theatre. These street spots are designated loading zone or five minute parking dependant on time of day.

There is limited parking in the city, however patrons of the Comedy Theatre can avail of parking at some nearby First Parking car parks.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance. Late arrivals may be held until a suitable break in the show to minimise disruption to other patrons.

Bags larger than A4 size must be cloaked before entering the auditorium. Cloakroom space is limited, so please avoid bringing bulky items where possible. For security purposes, bag checks may be conducted. Please contact us for lost property enquries.
