We are seeking an experienced Venue Manager to lead the operational delivery of live music events at Forum Melbourne. This is a senior on-site leadership role for a calm, confident venue leader with strong experience managing live shows, large teams, high‑volume public environments, and actively assessing and managing operational risk.

About the Role

This role is a senior operational lead for live music events at Forum Melbourne, overseeing end‑to‑end show delivery. The role coordinates venue teams, hirers, touring parties and contractors to ensure smooth, compliant and well‑run shows, while overseeing crowd management, risk assessment and public safety.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring regular evening and weekend work in line with Forum Melbourne’s live entertainment schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Venue & Show Operations

• Work closely alongside the Forum Operations team to coordinate live event delivery across internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders
• Ensure venue systems, infrastructure and equipment are operational and issues are addressed promptly
• Oversee patron safety, first aid responses, show stop procedures and emergency evacuations
• Manage visits from police, liquor licensing officers and government authorities when required
• Ensure venues are securely opened, operated and closed in line with safety and licensing requirements

Show Administration

• Act as the primary communication point between hirers and Marriner Group staff, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure all requirements (pre, during and post-event) are met
• Maintain regular communication with the hirers and Marriner Group staff regarding venue operations and resolving any issues prior to and during events
• Facilitate operational meetings and briefings for internal and external teams

People Leadership, Safety & Standards

• Set clear expectations for professionalism, conduct and customer service across operational and security teams
• Champion a safety-led, respectful and customer-focused culture
• Address performance or conduct issues on shift in line with company policies, escalating where appropriate
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, licensing conditions and OH&S requirements

Administration & Continuous Improvement

• Oversee incident reporting, show reports and operational documentation
• Analyse incidents and trends to identify risks and recommend improvements
• Contribute to the development and refinement of security, event and operational procedures
• Provide operational and administrative support to senior leaders as required

About You

You are an experienced venue manager or event operations leader with a strong background managing live events, complex shows and high-volume patron environments.

You bring:

• Demonstrated experience in senior venue, event or operational management roles
• Strong understanding of crowd management, public safety, risk assessment and live event operations
• Proven ability to lead teams calmly and decisively in fast-paced environments
• High-level communication, judgement and conflict resolution skills
• Strong organisational and administrative capability
• Experience in security leadership will be beneficial, but not essential
• A current First Aid qualification

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays is essential.

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Security Operations Manager to provide operational leadership of security services across our venues, with a primary focus on live music operations at Forum Melbourne. This is a hands-on leadership role for a calm, confident professional who thrives in fast-paced, live entertainment environments and is committed to safety, professionalism and exceptional customer service. This role also provides operational and administrative support to the Head of Access and Security, contributing to the effective coordination and continuous improvement of security operations across our venues.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Access and Security, the Security Operations Manager is a senior on-site leader responsible for overseeing security operations during live music, theatre and events. You will lead, support and mentor security guards, supervisors and team leaders, ensuring consistent standards, effective crowd management and positive patron experiences. While primarily based at Forum Melbourne, the role supports security operations across other Marriner Group venues as required and provides operational and administrative support to the Head of Access and Security. Given the nature of live entertainment, flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership for security services at Forum Melbourne and across Marriner Group venues as required, ensuring safe, secure and welcoming environments
• Lead and support security guards, supervisor and team leaders, setting clear expectations for performance, conduct and customer service
• Oversee crowd management, access control, entry points and public areas, including securing venues at the conclusion of events
• Lead and support responses to complex or high-risk incidents, liaising with venue management and emergency services when required
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training and development of security staff in collaboration with the Head of Access and Security
• Manage performance, coaching and corrective action in line with company policies
• Champion a strong customer service culture, ensuring professional presentation, respectful interactions and high standards at all times
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, licensing requirements, OH&S obligations and emergency procedures
• Oversee incident reporting, show reports and operational documentation, analysing trends and contributing to continuous improvement

About You

You are an experienced security leader with a strong background in live entertainment, events and customer-facing environments. You lead with confidence, remain calm under pressure and place high importance on exceptional customer experiences.

You will also bring:

• A current, valid Security Licence
• Demonstrated experience in senior leadership roles
• Experience managing teams in live entertainment, events and customer-facing environments
• Strong understanding of security operations, crowd management and public safety
• A high level of administrative ability
• A current First Aid qualification.

Position Summary:

We are seeking experienced and casual Security Guards to provide security and a high level of customer service for theatre shows, events and concerts, working across all our Melbourne CBD venues. Flexibility with working hours, including being able to work nights, weekends and shift work is essential.

To be a successful candidate you must demonstrate a professional manner, an appropriate level of fitness, high standard of personal grooming and have at least a year’s previous experience as a Security Guard at major events, hospitality, the arts and or the entertainment industry.

In this role, you will undertake varied tasks set by the Security Manager, which will require you to work autonomously and as part of a team. The ability to prioritise, show initiative, good communication skills and reliability is essential.

Candidates must hold a current Victorian Private Security Individual Licence, a current First Aid certificate, a current Police check, a current drivers’ licence and be able to demonstrate key competencies in the following areas:

The Venue Presentation team assists in making these magnificent venues *sparkle* for the thousands of patrons we welcome through our doors each day.

Successful applicants must be able to work early mornings including Mondays & Saturdays.   Applicants must be physically fit as heavy lifting/moving may be involved as part of the role. Previous commercial cleaning experience is preferable.
