Marriner Group manages and operates five of Melbourne’s most iconic venues, all located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD; the Princess Theatre, Regent Theatre, Comedy Theatre, Forum Melbourne and the Plaza Ballroom.
A family owned and operated business for four decades, the Marriner family first purchased the Princess Theatre in 1986, and plans were put in place for its total refurbishment and to ensure its future viability as a live theatre venue. The Princess Theatre reopened in 1989 with the musical ‘Les Miserables’ followed by ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ which established a new record for the longest-running show ever staged in Victoria, and so began the revival of Melbourne’s theatre scene.
Marriner Theatres went on to play a major part in saving the Regent Theatre and Plaza Ballroom from demolition, turned Forum Melbourne into one of the country’s premier live music and event venues, and have given the Regent, Princess and Comedy Theatres a new life as some of Melbourne’s landmark and most spectacular venues.
The business rebranded from Marriner Theatres to Marriner Group in 2010 to incorporate the diversity of the business across the areas of theatre, live music and events. Having played host to countless world class musicals, plays, festivals, live music events and corporate events, the venues come with a loyal following of performers and patrons alike.
Owned by brother and sister team Kayely Marriner and Jason Marriner, Marriner Group is passionate about live entertainment and the key part that it plays in our city and our society. Our venues are for everyone and we aim to make our shows and events accessible for all. We pride ourselves in welcoming thousands of patrons through our doors each week and aim to create a paramount experience for each and every one.
We hope to be able to welcome you to one of our venues soon.
